We will get acquainted with the student and parent(s) by
• Reviewing educational documents, such as transcripts, IEPs, 504 Plans, medical and/or psychological evaluations
• Conferring with parents and student about their concerns and wishes
• Interviewing the student about their strengths, talents, interests, learning styles, college preferences, and prospective majors
We may make recommendations to enhance the student’s college opportunities by
• Suggesting community service and activities to broaden the student’s opportunities
• Outlining services/programs at colleges that will enhance the student’s achievement
• Introducing student to various assistive technologies, that may enhance learning
• Offering referrals for tutoring, testing, or coaching services
We will provide an overview of and guidance for the application and admission process by
• Developing individual timelines for the college search
• Creating a customized list of higher education options that fit the student’s individual profile
• Assisting with college selection and evaluating college acceptance offers
• Offering guidance about college campus visits
We will guide the student through the college writing process by
• Brainstorming college essay ideas
• Assisting with editing essay
• Helping the student select supplemental writing statements
We will prepare students to show their best profile to colleges by
• Conducting mock interviews to practice for the admissions interview
• Suggesting ways to show “demonstrated interest” in a college
